    APEC blue

    “APEC blue” became a popular word after clear blue skies appeared due to pollution control measures during the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation meetings held in Beijing in November, reflecting the government’s efforts to reduce pollution and public’s desire for clean air. During the APEC meetings, Beijing and its surrounding regions took temporary measures to cut emissions （排放） such as limiting car use.

The west responded with punishment against Russia, which, coupled with falling oil prices, has dealt a blow to Russian economy.
