The New Zealand Government is inviting applicants from senior high 3 students for a scholarship to study in New Zealand.

In reply to your newspaper advertisement last week, I am writing to apply for the scholarship to study in New Zealand.

I am now a senior high 3 student at Future Road Secondary School. I am studying Chinese, English, Maths, Physics, Chemistry. P.E. and Politics. As you can see from the attached grade reports, I have received very good marks in all these subjects. I also won first prize in the Outlook English Speech Contest this year. I am currently the chairman of the School’s Chemistry Club. As chairman, I provide direction for our club’s projects. I also have a wide range of interests outside school, such as playing the guitar, listening to pop music, reading and collecting stamps.

I felt that I am a strong candidate for receiving the scholarship because of my excellent academic achievements and strong leadership skills.
